Search for America’s Fingerprints.. Activists Comment on Clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan
Tensions have escalated between Afghanistan and Pakistan following a deadly airstrike in Kabul, with conflicting government claims regarding the responsibility for the attack.
Recent tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have intensified, particularly after a devastating airstrike in Kabul that reportedly killed at least 400 people and injured over 250 others. The Afghan government, represented by spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid, accused Pakistan of orchestrating the strike, which targeted a rehabilitation center for drug addicts. This attack raised concerns over civilian casualties, as many victims were seeking treatment at the facility.
In response to the accusations, Pakistani Information Minister Attaullah Tarar denied that the Pakistan Army had targeted the Afghan center, asserting that their military operations aimed at eliminating specific military installations in Kabul and Nangarhar province. Tarar emphasized that the strikes were precisely directed towards Taliban infrastructure used to support terrorist activities, suggesting that the engagement in this conflict bore strategic military intent rather than indiscriminate harm.
Notably, the site of the airstrike had previously served as a US military base before being converted into a rehabilitation center called the Omid Hospital. With thousands of addicts receiving treatment there and learning vocational skills to reintegrate into society, the attack has sparked significant concern among activists and citizens alike regarding the deteriorating situation in border relations and the implications for humanitarian efforts in the region.
