'LPG production increased by 38%, sufficient oil reserves', government in action mode on energy crisis
The Indian government assures that there is no shortage of LPG and petroleum products amidst geopolitical tensions.
In response to concerns regarding LPG supply amid the ongoing war in Iran and the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, India's Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas provided a comprehensive update on Tuesday. The ministry confirmed that the country is maintaining adequate supplies of petroleum products and LPG, alleviating fears of shortages. All refineries are operating at high capacity, and oil companies have ensured they have sufficient crude oil reserves in place.
The ministry emphasized that India currently has enough petrol and diesel available to meet its needs, eliminating the requirement for imports to satisfy domestic demand. It was highlighted that there are no reports of fuel shortages at any petrol pumps across the nation, as oil marketing companies are ensuring regular supplies. In light of these assurances, the government urged citizens not to panic-buy petrol and diesel.
Additionally, the ministry indicated that domestic PNG and CNG consumers are receiving a full supply of gas, while the supply to industrial and commercial consumers is limited to approximately 80%. Efforts are underway to encourage commercial LPG consumers in urban areas to switch to PNG to optimize supply amidst the current energy landscape.
