Mother claims driver was speeding when he hit her children in SP: 'Did not provide assistance'
A mother in São Paulo is demanding justice after a driver, allegedly speeding, hit her two children and fled the scene without offering help.
Andriela Rodrigues da Costa, a 29-year-old mother, was crossing the street with her two children, a newborn and a 14-year-old, in Cajati, São Paulo, when they were struck by a speeding vehicle. The incident occurred at a pedestrian crossing, and the driver reportedly fled without rendering aid. The mother expressed her outrage, stating that the driver’s speed suggested intent to cause harm and demanded justice for her children.
The hit-and-run incident took place on the night of Saturday, October 14, near the pedestrian viaduct on Avenida Mitsuki Koga, close to the Régis Bittencourt Highway. Local authorities, led by Delegate Tedi Wilson de Andrade, have categorized the case as having an unknown perpetrator, but investigations are already in progress to locate the driver and determine full accountability.
Andriela emphasized the emotional toll of the accident, highlighting her newborn son Samuel and her teenage daughter Julia, urging that no one should face such an ordeal. The ongoing investigation will likely spotlight issues of public safety concerning speeding drivers and the consequences of hit-and-run incidents within the community, potentially pushing for stricter laws on traffic violations in urban areas.
