The municipality of Königsdorf is currently grappling with a persistent problem at its pump station in Königsdorf-Wiesen, which has been experiencing blockages nearly every day since the end of January. The culprits appear to be non-dissolvable hygiene products such as wet wipes and disposable diapers, which are making their way into the sewage system and causing significant operational issues for the municipal wastewater association. These foreign materials are jamming the pump, leading to costly repairs and service interruptions.

Local officials have expressed frustration over the situation, particularly since the source of these foreign objects remains unidentified. The municipality speculates that they might be originating from healthcare or childcare settings, as these products are commonly discarded inappropriately. The community has reported that this ongoing issue has already resulted in repair costs exceeding 8,000 euros, a financial burden that could eventually be passed on to local residents if the source is not found and addressed.

With Tobias Riesch, the deputy managing director of the wastewater association, highlighting the urgency of solving the problem, there is a call for the community to assist in identifying the responsible parties.
