English police accesses computer of missing Brazilian woman in search of clues, says family
English authorities have accessed the computer of missing Brazilian psychologist Vitória Barreto as part of the investigations into her disappearance.
The disappearance of Brazilian psychologist Vitória Figueiredo Barreto has raised concerns among her family and the public as she remains missing for two weeks in the United Kingdom. On April 16, English police accessed her computer with the assistance of passwords provided by her family. The police were able to retrieve critical information that could aid in locating her, with relatives actively involved in following the investigation led by Essex Police.
Prior to her disappearance, Vitória participated in events in Morocco and was last seen on March 3 after leaving the University of Essex. Her family had previously taken legal steps in Brazil, with the Ceará court approving their request to access her bank and phone records to gather more information. The public prosecutor in Ceará supported this request, which highlights the serious efforts being made by her family to aid the investigation across international borders.
The police found Vitória's laptop on April 14 in Brightlingsea, a coastal town she visited after leaving university. This discovery, coupled with ongoing searches and efforts to analyze her digital footprint, aims to shed light on her whereabouts. The case underscores not only the challenges of missing person investigations but also the cross-border cooperation between authorities in Brazil and the UK, highlighting the importance of international law enforcement when dealing with such cases.
