Operation against drug trafficking arrests nine people in Guarus, Campos

A police operation in Guarus, Campos dos Goytacazes, has led to the arrest of nine individuals involved in drug trafficking.

In an extensive operation targeting drug trafficking and association for drug trafficking, nine individuals were arrested by police in the Guarus subdistrict of Campos dos Goytacazes, located in Northern Fluminense. The action, named Operation Vera Cruz, was initiated following arrest warrants issued by the judiciary on October 10, and police teams are still in the area, indicating that further arrests are anticipated throughout the day. Notably, some of the arrests have occurred in the Jóquei and Parque Santa Helena neighborhoods within Guarus, raising concerns about the local drug trade.

The operation has been bolstered by support from various local police units, including the Women’s Police Station, the Centers in Campos, and the São João da Barra precincts, along with the Military Police. According to Delegated Ronaldo Cavalcante, who heads the Guarus police station, investigations began in 2020 under the supervision of his predecessor, Delegate Pedro.
