On a Monday evening in Helsinki, author Rinna Saramäki experienced a robbery attempt while cycling from the Mäkelänrinne swimming hall to downtown. During her ride, a young man on a bicycle forced her to confront him by cutting her off and demanding her wallet. Saramäki described the attacker as wearing a hood that covered his face, and during the altercation, she suddenly noticed that he was armed with a hammer.

Saramäki's instinctive reaction was to shout at the man, expressing her anger and confusion about his actions. This unexpected response proved to be beneficial as it attracted the attention of passersby, leading to one individual intervening. Although this Good Samaritan suffered a blow from the hammer in the process, their intervention successfully disrupted the robbery attempt. Saramäki praised the bravery of the passerby for stepping in to assist her during this frightening encounter.

After the attack, Saramäki attempted to have another passerby call the police, but unfortunately, it was unsuccessful. Additionally, her own phone was out of battery at the time.
