The group 'Aves' will perform medieval music for the first time on the program 'In the Dome of Light' hosted by Latvijas Radio.

Aves, a musical ensemble, will be guesting on the medieval music program 'In the Dome of Light' for the first time on Latvijas Radio. The concert will be hosted by Orests Silabriedis, featuring a range of sacred music originating from the 13th to 15th centuries, arranged by Aves. The event is scheduled for March 23, and those interested in attending can register by phone or email for in-person participation, which includes presenting identification upon arrival.

The repertoire for the concert includes works from notable composers of the medieval period such as Philippe le Chancelier, Guillaume Dufay, and Johannes Tourout, as well as anonymous authors. The concert promises to immerse attendees in the rich traditions of Western and Central European sacred music, utilizing beautifully structured Latin poetry that aims to invoke faith while enticing listeners with harmonically intricate performances. Elements of early liturgical polyphony from the Aquitaine region will also feature alongside love lyrics from the 'Song of Songs'.

Through exquisite segments dedicated to the Virgin Mary and complex polyphonic arrangements from the 15th century, the concert narrates themes of love and spiritual warmth. This performance not only showcases historical music but also serves to revive and celebrate the cultural heritage of the medieval period, fostering a deeper connection to artistic expressions rooted in faith and devotion.
