During an ordinary session on Monday, the Bauru City Council unanimously approved the final report of the Special Inquiry Committee (CEI), which investigated allegations of misappropriation of scrap and unusable goods from the Municipal Urban and Rural Development Company of Bauru (Emdurb). The decision to pass this report indicates a significant step toward accountability, as it will now be forwarded to the Public Ministry and the Civil Police for further investigation. This storm caused considerable destruction across the city, including downed trees, damage to traffic lights and electricity networks, residential homes, public buildings, and partial destruction of the Terminal Rodoviário’s roof. Amidst these challenges, the allegations suggested that Emdurb had engaged in the unauthorized sale of these damaged materials, raising serious concerns about governance and transparency within the organization.
