‘Maximum Price System’ Gasoline Prices Continue to Fall After Five Days at 1828 Won, But Rate of Drop Is Uncertain
The implementation of Korea's maximum price system on gasoline has resulted in a decrease in prices at gas stations, though the pace of reduction remains questioned.
On the fifth day since the South Korean government instituted a maximum price system on petroleum products, gasoline prices have continued to decline across the nation. As of this afternoon, the average price for gasoline was reported at 1828.31 won per liter, down by 4.39 won from the previous day, and diesel prices also fell by 5.1 won, indicating a downward trend. According to data from the Energy and Oil Market Monitoring Group, a civil organization, approximately 86.52% of gas stations nationwide reduced their gasoline prices, and 87.31% lowered diesel prices, suggesting that the price control measures are having a tangible effect.
