Army raises the alarm over multiple suicide bombers in Borno
The Nigerian Army has issued a warning regarding the potential deployment of multiple suicide bombers in Maiduguri, following a recent deadly bombing incident attributed to Boko Haram.
The Nigerian Army has raised concerns about the imminent threat posed by multiple suicide bombers linked to Boko Haram, as they prepare to target the capital city of Borno State, Maiduguri. This alarming announcement follows a tragic suicide bombing on Monday evening, which resulted in the deaths of 23 individuals and injured over 100 others. The Army's proactive approach seeks to protect citizens by encouraging them to stay away from crowded areas that could be potential targets for these attacks.
The Media Information Officer of the Northeast Joint Taskforce, Lt Col Sanni Uba, elaborated on the locations that have been marked at high risk for such attacks, particularly the Post Office area, the Monday Market axis, and the entrance to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH). The Army's statement indicates that these attacks are intended to cause significant casualties and instill fear among the population, reflecting Boko Haram's ongoing strategy to disrupt life in Maiduguri and exert control through terror.
As the situation unfolds, the Nigerian Army's warning underscores the persistent danger posed by extremist groups in northeastern Nigeria. The government and military's response is critical in preventing future incidents and ensuring the safety of the residents of Maiduguri. Vigilance among the populace, coupled with military readiness, will be essential in combating these terrorist threats, particularly as they adapt their approach to inflict harm and chaos in urban settings.
