Russian drones hit southern Odesa Oblast
Russian drone attacks in southern Odesa Oblast have caused damage to energy, industrial, and port facilities without any reported casualties.
On the night of 16-17 March, Russian forces executed drone strikes in southern Odesa Oblast, impacting several critical infrastructures, including energy and industrial facilities, as well as port operations. The attacks led to damages to business properties and equipment, resulting in various fires that emergency services managed to extinguish promptly. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties from the incident.
Oleh Kiper, the Head of Odesa Oblast Military Administration, provided updates via Telegram, highlighting the quick action of firefighters who worked at multiple sites to control the situation. However, the attacks did result in power outages across several settlements, and critical infrastructure within the region was temporarily shifted to backup power supplies to maintain operational continuity.
Further details from the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories indicated that a barge involved in local production processes was also hit, alongside damage to outbuildings at one of the ports. This incident underscores the ongoing impact of the conflict on Ukraine's southern regions, emphasizing the vulnerability of essential services and infrastructure amidst continued hostilities.
