Seven arrests were made in postal code 105 in Reykjavik on the evening of March 16, 2026, in connection with a serious assault. The police reported handling multiple calls related to five assault incidents during their shift, leading to a total of eleven individuals being held in custody by the morning of March 17. In addition to the seven arrested, two other individuals were detained for related assault incidents, both in altered states. This underscores the rising concern over violent encounters in the capital.

The police overview from Reykjavik's capital region highlighted not only the major assault but also additional reports of two more assault incidents, one occurring in postal code 104 and another in Kópavogur. Furthermore, there were reports of theft from a store in the city center, with one arrest made under suspicion of drug-related activities.
