Israel has carried out airstrikes in three neighborhoods of Beirut

Israel conducted airstrikes in three neighborhoods of Beirut as retaliation against Hezbollah after attacks linked to Iran.

On Tuesday, Israel carried out airstrikes in three neighborhoods of Beirut, according to reports from Lebanese media. These attacks occurred following a broader conflict that escalated when the Iran-backed Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah launched an assault on Israel after the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on February 28. In response, Israel targeted Hezbollah positions within Lebanon and also sent troops into areas near the Lebanese border, indicating a significant military engagement in the region.

Reports indicated that multiple strikes and artillery bombardments took place in southern cities of Lebanon early in the morning. Israel's military aircraft performed two strikes aimed at the Kafatas and Haret Hreika regions, along with another strike targeting a multi-story building in the Doha Aramoun area. Casualties were reported, including an Ethiopian woman injured in the airstrikes, highlighting the immediate impact of the military actions on civilian populations in these areas.

As the situation continues to develop, Israel announced further attacks on Tehran and Hezbollah's infrastructure in Beirut. This escalation in hostilities not only reflects ongoing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah but also signifies deeper regional ramifications amidst the backdrop of escalating US and Iranian conflicts, further complicating the geopolitical landscape in the Middle East.
