Man arrested after car chase in Agder β police car wrecked
A man in his 30s was arrested after leading police on a car chase in Agder, with the chase ending in a collision with a police vehicle, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
In Agder, Norway, a police patrol attempted to stop a vehicle for a routine check, but the driver fled, leading to a pursuit. After the police lost track of the vehicle, it eventually collided with the patrol car after about 10 kilometers, although the impact was minor and no injuries were reported. The driver, a man in his 30s, was alone in the car at the time of the incident.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning when the police pursued the fleeing vehicle toward Sundebru. Despite the police's initial attempts to detain the car, they decided to prioritize safety and ended the immediate chase. Shortly thereafter, the vehicle unexpectedly returned towards the patrol car, resulting in a low-speed collision that left the police vehicle undriveable. The police later reported that the wrecked patrol car was towed away.
Authorities suspect that the arrested man was under the influence of narcotics, as he had illegal substances in his possession and also lacked a valid driving license. He has been taken into custody for further investigation, highlighting concerns regarding impaired driving and illegal activities on the road, particularly in a region where police have been actively working to enhance road safety.
