The Identity of 'Faceless Painter' Banksy May Be Revealed After 25 Years…"51-Year-Old British Man"
A credible speculation suggests that the elusive graffiti artist Banksy is a 51-year-old man from Bristol, England, according to a report by Reuters' investigation team.
After 25 years of anonymity, credible speculation has emerged regarding the true identity of the renowned graffiti artist Banksy, suggesting he could be a 51-year-old man named Robin Cunningham from Bristol, England. This information comes from investigative reports by Reuters, which indicate that Banksy has managed to keep his identity hidden while creating powerful street art addressing issues like war, famine, refugees, and state power around the world.
Reports revealed that Cunningham, born in 1973, likely changed his name to David Jones in 2008 to evade detection, as it is one of the most common names in the UK. Furthermore, a recent art piece found in the village of Horenka in Ukraine provided a critical lead in connecting these dots. In November 2022, multiple artworks believed to be created by Banksy were discovered in war-torn areas of Ukraine, and he confirmed the authenticity of the works through a video posted on his Instagram, which also featured footage of a hooded painter in the region.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing two masked men creating murals, and one of them was later identified as Giles Duley, a documentary photographer who lost limbs in Afghanistan. Duley's association with Banksy, as well as his presence in Ukraine alongside someone carrying the name David Jones who shares the same date of birth as Robin Cunningham, lends further credence to this theory. Additionally, it is noted that a person named Robin Cunningham confessed to a vandalism act involving an advertisement in New York back in 2000, which was linked to Banksy, solidifying the ongoing investigation into his identity.
