North Korea's Supreme People’s Assembly to Convene on the 22nd… Will It Specify 'Hostile Two States Against Unification' in the Constitution?
North Korea's Supreme People's Assembly will hold its first meeting of the 15th term to discuss constitutional revisions, including whether to officially state the 'hostile two states against unification' doctrine proposed by Kim Jong-un.
The Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) of North Korea, equivalent to a national parliament, announced that it will convene its first session of the newly formed 15th term on the 22nd to discuss a range of significant issues, including potential amendments to the socialist constitution. A focal point of this meeting is the proposition put forth by Kim Jong-un that the constitution should explicitly include the doctrine of 'hostile two states against unification'. This doctrine was first publicly revealed during the 9th plenum of the Workers' Party of Korea's 8th Central Committee in December 2023, and Kim has since advocated for its constitutional recognition.
