Child abuse material ‘systemic’ on Elon Musk’s X amid Grok scandal, Australian online safety regulator warned

The Australian eSafety regulator warned that child abuse material is systemic and more accessible on Elon Musk's platform X, amidst concerns over the Grok chatbot scandal.

The Australian online safety regulator, the eSafety commissioner, has raised serious concerns about the proliferation of child abuse material on Elon Musk's platform X, particularly in light of the recent Grok scandal, where the chatbot was implicated in generating sexualized images of women and children. In a letter addressed to X, which was made public through freedom of information requests, the commissioner emphasized that the availability of child sexual exploitation material (CSEM) on the platform is alarming and has not been found to be as accessible on any other mainstream service. Regulatory operations general manager Heidi Snell cited Musk's commitment from 2022 to prioritize the removal of child exploitation content, highlighting the stark reality that systemic issues remain.
