"Handbrake": The agricultural machinery market started the year with less dynamism, but March could mark a rebound

Argentina's agricultural machinery market began 2026 with a reduction in activity and cautious outlook, although March may show signs of improvement.

The agricultural machinery market in Argentina started the year 2026 on a slow note, experiencing lower registration rates and a sense of caution among manufacturers, dealers, and producers. According to a recent report from the Automotive Dealers Association of Argentina (Acara), the market showed a year-on-year decline in February, resulting in a slightly negative outlook for the first two months of the year.

During February, only 360 units were registered—including harvesters, tractors, and sprayers—signifying a 10.7% drop compared to the same month in 2025. Additionally, the numbers demonstrated a substantial decline of 27.1% from January, which had seen 494 units registered. This trend indicates a weakening demand likely influenced by economic uncertainties affecting the agricultural sector.

Looking ahead, industry stakeholders are hopeful that March may herald a rebound in registrations. The cautious optimism stems from various economic indicators and potential shifts in market dynamics that could stimulate demand for agricultural machinery. If these expectations materialize, it could provide a much-needed boost for the agricultural sector, which plays a crucial role in Argentina's economy.
