The punishment of a man secretly filming women in the shower shocks – 'Lifetime ban is the only option'

The Czech football players' association demands a lifetime ban for coach Petr Vlachovsky, who secretly filmed female players and possessed sexual abuse material involving minors.

The Czech Football Players' Association (CAFH) has expressed outrage over the lenient punishment given to coach Petr Vlachovsky, who was found guilty of secretly filming 14 female players in showers and changing rooms using hidden cameras. Despite the severity of his actions, which included possessing materials related to the sexual exploitation of minors, he was sentenced to only one year in prison and a five-year ban from coaching. This has raised serious concerns among players and advocates for stricter measures against such violations.

Marketa Vochoska Haindlova, president of the Czech players’ association and a board member with the international players’ union FIFPro, criticized the ruling as sending a dangerous message. She emphasized that the relatively light punishment allows Vlachovsky the possibility of returning to football after his ban, which could present further risks to players' safety. The association insists on the need for stronger legal repercussions to deter similar acts in the future.

The fallout from Vlachovsky's case underscores broader issues within sports regarding the protection of players, particularly women, against predatory behavior. The CAFH not only demands immediate action against Vlachovsky but also seeks to implement systemic changes that could include lifelong bans for individuals convicted of such offenses, ensuring a safer environment in sports for all participants.
