Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, and Riz Ahmed are confirmed as the first three guest hosts for the long-anticipated UK version of Saturday Night Live, which will premiere live on Sky on March 21. This adaptation aims to mirror the famous fast turnaround of the US original, as the show will be written, rehearsed, and performed within the same week, maintaining the same energetic format that fans expect from SNL.
The UK SNL will feature key components of the American show, including an opening monologue, timely sketches, and a satirical news segment titled Weekend Update, tailored for British audiences. Alongside the hosts, the first three musical acts set to perform are the Indie band Wet Leg, Brit award winners Wolf Alice, and the iconic rock band Kasabian, marking a robust opening lineup for this new venture in British late-night television.
Tina Fey, a prominent figure in SNL’s history, has an illustrious background as a writer and performer, notably becoming the show’s first female head writer. With Lorne Michaels, the show's original creator, on board as executive producer, the UK adaptation aims to capture the essence of the beloved American format while infusing it with a distinct British flair, suggesting that audiences can look forward to a fresh yet familiar comedic experience.
