With rationing maintained, DAE announces measures against drought and cleaning of the Batalha River in Bauru

The Department of Water and Sewage of Bauru announced new measures to ensure water security amid continuing drought conditions.

The Department of Water and Sewage (DAE) in Bauru, São Paulo, has rolled out a plan to enhance water security in the face of ongoing drought conditions affecting the region. These measures, which were published in the official diary, include the dredging of the Batalha River Lagoon and the procurement of equipment for maintaining the city's primary water supply source. Currently, the municipality is implementing a water supply rotation system due to the low levels of the Batalha River, which has led to significant water scarcity for residents.

Mayor Suéllen Rosim emphasized that these actions are part of the 'Água de Todos' program, aimed at boosting the water management capabilities of the city through various initiatives undertaken by the DAE and the local government. The dredging process for the Batalha River, a project that has been in the works for many years, is one of the key actions that the local authorities are taking to cope with diminishing water sources. The program also includes drilling wells, building pumping stations, laying new pipelines, and constructing reservoirs, all financed by a loan of R$ 40 million.

As the situation progresses, the measures introduced by the DAE are critical not only in addressing immediate water needs but also in ensuring long-term sustainability of the water supply for Bauru. This intervention comes at a time when the area's water infrastructure is under severe strain from environmental factors such as drought, underscoring the importance of strategic planning in urban water management.
