Material damages from falling rocket fragments in Jerusalem

Rocket fragments fell in various areas of Jerusalem, causing material damage but no casualties.

On Monday evening, Jerusalem, specifically the Old City, experienced the fall of rocket fragments, resulting in material damage without any reported human casualties. The Palestinian governor of Jerusalem issued a statement noting that one rocket fragment landed in the Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards, prompting the Israeli police to secure the area. This incident comes amid ongoing closures of the mosque, which has been closed for 17 consecutive days under the pretext of an emergency situation declared since the escalation against Iran that began in late February.

The information center Halaweh reported that rocket fragments fell within the courtyard of a home in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and also inside a house in Ras Al-Amoud township in Silwan, causing further material damages. In addition, the report mentioned that fragments landed in a vehicle parking area associated with the Southern Armenian Monastery in Jerusalem, and around the Church of the Holy Sepulchre located in the Old City. The Israeli police cordoned off the areas where the debris fell, restricting access.

Israeli broadcasting authority indicated that rocket fragments also landed near the Knesset and the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who faces charges from the International Criminal Court for alleged crimes against humanity. This raises serious concerns about the impact on civilian infrastructure and the ongoing tensions in the region, emphasizing the precarious security situation in Jerusalem amidst broader regional conflicts.
