PP-RS defines support for Luciano Zucco's PL in the State government elections
The PP in Rio Grande do Sul officially announced its support for the PL in the upcoming state government elections during a meeting on Monday.
The Progressive Party (PP) of Rio Grande do Sul has formally decided to support the Liberal Party (PL) in the elections for the state government, as confirmed in a meeting held on Monday between the state and federal deputy factions of both parties. This decision solidifies a collaborative approach leading up to the elections and shows a strategic alignment among the parties involved.
As part of this political strategy, the PP will take the role of vice-governor candidate, although the specific individual for this position is yet to be determined. Current potential candidates include state deputy Silvana Covatti and Senator LuΓs Carlos Heinze, both of whom are being considered for this critical role on the ticket. The coalition will be led by Luciano Zucco, a federal deputy for the PL and a notable former opposition leader against Lula's government in the Chamber of Deputies.
The coalition thus far includes PL, PP, the New Party (Novo), Podemos, and the Republicans. The formation of this alliance with the vice position gives the PP a crucial role in the electoral dynamics and is expected to enhance the coalition's chances in the upcoming state government elections. Further details and candidates will be announced as the elections approach.
