The Alytus District Municipality is establishing a new robotics center on the site of an unused workshop building at the Simnas Gymnasium, featuring two modern STEAM education spaces.

The Alytus District Municipality has announced the establishment of a new robotics center at Simnas Gymnasium, replacing an old workshop building that has long been unused. The center will include two state-of-the-art spaces dedicated to STEAM education, designed to enhance the learning experience of students. This initiative reflects a growing emphasis on integrating technology and innovation in education, particularly in fields of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.

Plans for the center also include equipping it with various technological tools, including robotics kits, an interactive wall, interactive cubes, and a sound system. According to the municipality, this equipment is intended to foster active and engaging learning experiences while helping nurture students' skills in building, logic, and creativity. The mayor of Alytus District, Rasa Vitkauskienė, emphasized the goal of making schools spaces where children can discover, create, and confidently look to the future, not just places for traditional learning.

In addition to the robotics center, the gymnasium building itself is also undergoing renovation. Enhancements include the installation of a ventilated facade covered with stoneware tiles, with ongoing works focusing on the building's plinth. This project is being funded through the "Millennium Schools II" program and resources from the Alytus District Municipality, highlighting a commitment to improving educational infrastructure in the region for future generations.
