Schoolgirl who died from meningitis remembered as 'kind and thoughtful'

A meningitis outbreak in Kent has raised serious health concerns after resulting in the deaths of two individuals, including a sixth form student named Juliette. The outbreak, centered in Mid-Kent, has seen 13 cases reported within just a few days, prompting responses from health agencies. Juliette was remembered by her headteacher, Amelia McIlroy, as an incredibly kind, thoughtful, and intelligent student, beloved by her peers and teachers alike.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) reported that alongside Juliette's death, another student from the University of Kent, situated approximately 10 miles from the Faversham area, also succumbed to the disease. With a further 11 cases of illness reported due to symptoms consistent with meningitis, the local health authorities are on heightened alert to manage and contain the outbreak effectively.
