Spain replaces the Finalissima with a friendly match against Serbia in La Cerámica
Spain's national football team will play a friendly match against Serbia on March 27 at the Cerámica Stadium after the cancellation of the Finalissima.
The Spanish national football team, under coach Luis de la Fuente, has officially announced a friendly match against Serbia scheduled for March 27 at 21:00 in Vila-real's Cerámica Stadium. This decision comes after the Finalissima match against Argentina was canceled due to geopolitical instability in the Middle East, prompting the Real Federación Española de Fútbol (RFEF) to seek alternative opponents for the international window.
The original match was set to take place in Doha, Qatar, where UEFA and Conmebol were exploring options for the fixture. However, following significant international tensions, which arose from recent conflicts involving the U.S. and Israel in Iran, it became necessary to relocate the event. In light of this cancellation, the RFEF has intensified negotiations to ensure that Spain still has two matches lined up during the international period, with Serbia confirmed for one of them.
The match against Serbia not only allows Spain to maintain competitive momentum but also presents an opportunity to engage with another strong European team in preparation for future tournaments. The RFEF is still in search of a second opponent for a match on March 31, indicating their commitment to providing the national team with ample playtime amidst changing international circumstances.
