Focus on academic excellence, Abuja private varsity VC urges new students
The Vice-Chancellor of Margaret Lawrence University in Abuja has urged newly admitted students to prioritize their studies and uphold strong ethical standards.
During the third matriculation ceremony of Margaret Lawrence University in Abuja, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ernest Izevbigie addressed over 200 new students, encouraging them to focus on academic excellence and maintain high ethical standards as they begin their educational journey. He emphasized the importance of private universities in Nigeria's academic landscape, stating that they play a crucial role in enhancing educational standards across the country.
The theme of the matriculation, βThe Oasis of Academic Excellence and Intelligence,β highlights the institution's commitment to providing quality education. Prof. Izevbigie shared insights into the university's establishment, noting that its founding was inspired by a divine vision. Although it received its official license in March 2022, the university only commenced academic activities in November 2023, adding an element of excitement to this year's matriculation ceremony.
With eight faculties, including medicine, law, engineering, computing, and environmental sciences, Margaret Lawrence University aims to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in their respective fields. The emphasis placed on ethical standards alongside academic achievement seeks to foster a well-rounded educational environment, preparing students for future challenges in both their professional and personal lives.
