Race Across the World tops TV shows inspiring Brits to travel to Asia

A significant number of Britons are motivated to travel to Asia, with the BBC's 'Race Across the World' emerging as the top inspiration.

A recent study has revealed that 41% of Britons are likely to travel to Asia within the next five years, with the BBC's hit show 'Race Across the World' identified as the most significant source of inspiration. The research surveyed 2,000 adults in the UK and highlighted that television programs and films play a considerable role in motivating travel plans. Alongside 'Race Across the World', other popular media such as 'Squid Game', 'The White Lotus', and the film 'Crazy Rich Asians' were also credited with sparking interest in the diverse continent.

Importantly, the findings indicate that the appeal for travel to Asia is closely linked to the portrayal of its stunning landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and historical sites, with 45% of respondents citing beautiful scenery as a key factor for their interest. Additionally, 41% mentioned cultural traditions and historical landmarks as captivating elements showcased in various media, enhancing their desire to visit. Overall, 20% of the surveyed individuals acknowledged that film and television influenced their travel aspirations to Asia.

While media plays a crucial role in inspiring travel, the survey also pointed out that other aspects contribute to the desire for exploration, including experiences like Formula 1 (10%) and theme parks (15%). This multifaceted motivation for travel speaks to the growing trend of exploration among Britons, reshaping the perception of Asia as a desirable destination for tourists from the UK.
