A. Galdikas has been appointed as the new health vice-minister in Lithuania, having previously worked in various medical roles and educational positions.
The Lithuanian government has appointed A. Galdikas as the new health vice-minister, as announced by the Ministry of Health. Galdikas, who was suggested for the role by 'Nemuno aušra', holds a degree in medical sciences from the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences and is a qualified anesthesiologist-resuscitator. His previous experience includes significant roles in the Klaipėda Red Cross Hospital and Klaipėda Maritime Hospital, along with teaching pharmacology and intensive therapy at Klaipėda and Vilnius universities.
The appointment is part of a broader coalition agreement, indicating the collaborative nature of the Lithuanian government. Galdikas will be working under Health Minister Marija Jakubauskienė, who herself has chosen a new advisor, A. Želvienė. This advisor brings over 15 years of public health experience to the ministry, marking a shift towards experienced leadership in health affairs.
This transition in the health ministry may impact the direction of health policies in Lithuania, particularly with ongoing issues related to drug and alcohol control, as both Galdikas and his advisor have backgrounds in these areas. The appointment reflects the government's commitment to addressing public health challenges and enhancing the effectiveness of health services in the country.
