Suspension bridge completely closed for maintenance in São José dos Campos; closure expected to last 10 days

The suspension bridge in São José dos Campos has been completely closed for ten days for maintenance and inspection work.

The suspension bridge in São José dos Campos, São Paulo, was entirely closed on Monday morning, October 16, for maintenance and inspection activities that are expected to last for ten days. This closure, initiated at 6 AM, is part of the planned interventions outlined in the construction project associated with the bridge.

According to the city administration, the maintenance work will be conducted in two phases. The first phase involves preservation and upkeep of the concrete structures, including cleaning and assessing the drainage system. Importantly, this phase is being carried out at no additional cost to the city, as it falls under the warranty of the construction company responsible for the bridge's development.

The second phase will be handled by a specialized company that will conduct a technical inspection of the suspension cables supporting the two viaducts linked to the bridge. Due to the bridge's considerable height of approximately 100 meters, these inspections will utilize rappelling techniques, requiring both engineers and climbers to safely perform the necessary evaluations.
