The Parliament will also function next Saturday-Sunday, the government will bring Guillotine on the 18th
The Indian Parliament will convene on the upcoming weekend, and the government plans to introduce a Guillotine to expedite the passage of pending bills amid upcoming holidays.
This week, the Indian Parliament will have two days of break due to holidays, with sessions of both houses, Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, scheduled to not occur on March 18 and 20, coinciding with Gudhi Padwa and Eid celebrations. Additionally, another holiday for Ram Navami is expected next week on March 26, prompting the government to adjust its legislative agenda accordingly.
In preparation for these schedule changes, the government has announced that it will hold sessions on the weekends of March 28 and 29, allowing lawmakers to continue their work despite the holidays. The Chairman of Rajya Sabha, C.P. Radhakrishnan, has confirmed these weekend sessions, indicating the government's focus on maintaining legislative productivity during a time when holidays could otherwise lead to delays.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also highlighted that on March 18, the government intends to introduce a Guillotine in the House. This procedure allows for the bypass of discussions on financial demands from various ministries, facilitating a direct vote on the proposals, and is seen as a method to manage the legislative workload effectively.
