Boom barriers were raised, the sensor started ringing... Learn why CISF suddenly became alert in Parliament
A security alarm went off at the Parliament House complex due to a falling boom barrier caused by strong winds, leading to a temporary alert status by the CISF.
On Monday, a sudden security alarm at the Parliament House complex caused a moment of concern, triggered by strong winds that caused a boom barrier at one of the entry points to collapse. This incident set off the security sensors, prompting the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) teams stationed there to go into alert mode. The quick reaction team (QRT) was dispatched immediately to the scene to assess any potential threats.
Following the event, senior CISF officials arrived to evaluate the situation. Initial investigations revealed that the alarm was not due to any real threat but instead stemmed from a technical malfunction combined with the strong winds. The falling boom barrier mistakenly triggered the automatic security system, which then interpreted the event as an attempt by an unidentified object or vehicle to enter the Parliament grounds, leading to the alarm activation.
The incident occurred at a gate near Vijay Chowk, causing a temporary halt to vehicle movement in that area. However, after the security agencies confirmed that there was no imminent danger, normal operations were resumed shortly after the situation was clarified.
