Tusk characterized the alliance of the far-right 'Confederation' factions and members of the ruling Law and Justice party (PiS) as intent on driving Poland out of the EU, calling Nawrocki their patron. He expressed concern that forces aligned with Russia and American MAGA movements, as well as Hungarian-style European right-wing movements led by Viktor Orbán, aim to dismantle the EU, which he believes would result in disaster for Poland.
