A man previously imprisoned for multiple arson incidents has been arrested again for causing wildfires in South Korea's Gyeongsangnam-do region.
The Gyeongnam Provincial Police announced on the 16th that they have arrested a 67-year-old man, identified as Kim, for allegedly starting three wildfires this year, including one in Hamyang County that became South Korea's first major wildfire of the year. The wildfire on the night of the 21st of last month burned 234 hectares of forest and caused approximately 970 million won in property damages. The police revealed that Kim has a long history of arson, having set 96 fires in Ulsan over a 17-year period, which earned him the nickname 'Ulsan Bongdaesan Fire Squirrel'.
