Time to apply for education - here are the jobs
Demand for officers and engineers is rising due to war concerns, while opportunities for architects and cultural workers appear less optimistic.
In light of increasing geopolitical tensions, there is a notable rise in demand for officer and engineering positions in Sweden. This shift is driven largely by the current global climate, which has led many to seek careers in fields that enhance national security and infrastructure. However, the demand for architects and cultural workers is declining, highlighting a disparity in job market prospects across different professional sectors.
As students prepare to apply for higher education this autumn, the report from the academic union Saco indicates that professions such as social workers, dentists, veterinarians, and healthcare roles are expected to face significant personnel shortages in the next five years. This forecast reflects a growing need for skilled professionals in essential services, indicating that students and job seekers may want to consider these fields for stable career opportunities.
Furthermore, Saco's chairman, Sofia Rydg, notes that the job prospects for officers have been consistently strong for several years, suggesting a sustained interest in military and defense careers. This trend may influence not only student applications for military-related education programs but also broader discussions on national defense and security in Sweden, as young talents are increasingly drawn to professions that ensure the country’s safety amidst global uncertainties.
