The court will discuss another Feri's rape case, tickets will be issued for the courtroom due to high interest

The Prague 3 District Court is set to begin hearings in the case of former MP Dominik Feri, who faces allegations of rape stemming from an incident involving a 17-year-old girl.

The Prague 3 District Court is commencing proceedings today regarding former MP Dominik Feri, who is accused of rape in connection with an incident involving a 17-year-old girl. The allegations state that although the sexual encounter was consensual, Feri removed the condom without the girl's consent, raising serious legal questions about consent and sexual autonomy. Due to a significant public interest in the case, the court has decided to issue tickets for attendance, anticipating a full courtroom.

Feri was originally charged last March following an intervention by the Constitutional Court, which criticized the initial decision by police to not pursue charges based on the belief that removing a condom did not constitute a crime. The court ruling has established that consent to certain sexual activities does not eliminate a perpetrator's criminal responsibility if they coerce the victim into alternate sexual activities. This sets a significant precedent for understanding consent and accountability in sexual offenses in Czechia.

As part of the court's preparations for the proceedings, a limited number of tickets have been made available, with a total courtroom capacity of 25 seats. Journalists were given the opportunity to reserve tickets in advance, while security will distribute any remaining tickets from this morning. The court has also allocated two additional courtrooms to manage the interest in the case, highlighting the societal relevance of issues surrounding sexual consent and legal recourse in such matters.
