A tragic car crash in Caravaggio, Italy, resulted in the deaths of a father and his grandmother while two young girls were injured.
A tragic traffic accident occurred yesterday afternoon on the provincial road 185 Rivoltana in Caravaggio, Bergamo, Italy, around 12:30 PM. The incident involved a severe crash with four cars colliding, leading to a devastating outcome: two fatalities and eight injuries, including two young girls aged 5 and 6. The deceased are a 38-year-old man, the father of the two children, and a 73-year-old woman, the children’s maternal grandmother, who were traveling in a Citroën C5 that ended up overturned in a roadside irrigation canal after the crash.
According to initial investigations by the carabinieri, the collision was initiated by a reckless overtaking maneuver. A Mercedes vehicle, traveling from Caravaggio towards Mozzanica, attempted the dangerous pass, which set off a series of impacts after striking two other vehicles, including the family’s Citroën. This collision caused the Citroën to roll off the road and into the canal, resulting in the immediate deaths of the two adults onboard.
The injured girls were reported to be in stable condition and were immediately attended to following the incident. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash to ascertain further details and prevent future accidents, underscoring the importance of road safety amidst rising concerns about reckless driving on local roads.
