In Bangui, a Pharma Box to make health accessible to residents

A new initiative in Bangui aims to improve health care access through the introduction of the Pharma Box, which stores essential medicines for vulnerable populations.

In Bangui, Central African Republic, access to healthcare remains a significant challenge, particularly in rural and isolated areas. To address this issue, the NGO Action Against Hunger, with support from the CMA-CGM Foundation and in partnership with the Ministry of Health, has launched the first Pharma Box in the country. Officially inaugurated on April 10, 2025, this initiative aims to enhance the healthcare system by facilitating the storage and distribution of essential medicines to those in greatest need.

The Pharma Box is designed to store multiple tons of medicines and is expected to provide medical care to tens of thousands of people, especially vulnerable groups such as children and pregnant women suffering from malnutrition. By ensuring that essential medicines are more readily available, the Pharma Box initiative represents a crucial step forward in improving public health, particularly in rural areas where healthcare facilities are often lacking.

The launch of this innovative solution highlights the ongoing collaboration between NGOs and the government to tackle health challenges in the region. This initiative not only aims to alleviate immediate healthcare needs but also to strengthen the overall health system, ensuring that those who are most vulnerable have access to the necessary care to improve their health outcomes.
