[Breaking] Second Special Investigation: Search and seizure of People Power Party's Yoon Han-hong over suspicions of 'Yoon Seok-yeol's residence relocation'
The special investigation team is conducting a search of lawmaker Yoon Han-hong's residence in relation to allegations of misconduct during the relocation of the presidential residence under former President Yoon Seok-yeol's administration.
On December 16, the special investigation team led by Kwon Chang-young is executing a search and seizure operation on Yoon Han-hong, a member of the People Power Party, in connection with allegations of preferential treatment regarding the relocation of the presidential residence. This operation marks the first forced investigation conducted by the special investigation team since its establishment on November 25. The search warrant details various charges, including obstruction of the exercise of rights through abuse of authority.
Yoon Han-hong served as the head of the task force overseeing the relocation of the Blue House and the presidential residence during the Yoon Seok-yeol administration. He faces allegations that he directed Kim Oh-jin, the former Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, to assign the renovation work of the presidential residence to a specific interior company, 21 Gram, which lacked a general construction license. Kim Oh-jin has already been charged and detained for his role in this matter.
Additionally, the previous special investigation team that probed allegations against Kim Geon-hee, the spouse of President Yoon Seok-yeol, stated they had made progress uncovering the inappropriate involvement of Yoon Han-hong in national contract matters through other political connections. However, their investigation was limited due to time constraints, which prevented a comprehensive inquiry into Yoon Han-hong. Therefore, the newly appointed comprehensive special investigation team has been preparing to pursue the case by reviewing previous records of the investigation to follow up on any leads and evidence related to this alleged misconduct.
