Iran's Minister of Labour has announced a substantial increase in the minimum wage, raising it by over 60 percent, according to local media reports. The adjustment comes in response to widespread public discontent stemming from severe economic challenges, exacerbated by international sanctions and ongoing geopolitical tensions involving the United States and Israel. As part of the changes, the new monthly minimum wage will rise from 103 million rials to 166 million rials in the upcoming Persian calendar year, which begins shortly.
