Antonio Villeroy uncovers the past with the EP '1980's' and the songs that make up 'Travel Notebooks'

Antonio Villeroy is set to release a new EP titled '1980's' featuring four restored tracks from his early career, reflecting on his musical journey.

Antonio Villeroy, a celebrated Brazilian singer and songwriter from Rio Grande do Sul, is set to launch a new EP named '1980's' on March 19, featuring four tracks that originally date back to the mid-1980s. The EP's cover art is a restored photograph from 1985, taken by Zé Lopes, showing a young Villeroy immersed in music. This release serves as a revival of his early works and a nostalgic journey back to a defining decade in his career.

The four tracks included in the EP are 'Agilidade e malícia,' 'Blefe,' 'Drama,' and 'Poemas in vento.' The first track, 'Agilidade e malícia,' was developed from two poems by Charles Peixoto, reflecting the influences of late 20th-century Brazilian poetry. 'Blefe' was recorded with the local band CEP 90.00 in Porto Alegre, while 'Drama' draws from the work of prominent music producer Raro Efeito. The songs have been digitally restored and remastered, allowing them to reach a new audience with improved sound quality.

This project not only highlights Villeroy's artistic evolution since the 1980s but also serves as a cultural documentation of an era in Brazilian music. By revisiting these songs, Villeroy connects with both long-time fans and a new generation, promoting appreciation for the historical context and evolution of his musical style.
