A fatal accident occurred in Kittilä, Lapland, on November 21, 2024, when a 19-year-old Audi driver decided to overtake a large vehicle without ensuring that the oncoming lane was clear. The collision resulted in a head-on crash with a Toyota driven by a 57-year-old man, instantly killing him and his 55-year-old wife. Eyewitnesses reported that both vehicles caught fire after the crash, and bystanders rushed to rescue the occupants and administer first aid.

The young driver, who was en route to Levi on a Tuesday afternoon, had been behind a construction vehicle and attempted the risky maneuver without seeing clearly into the oncoming lane.
