The assembly of beams begins on the elevated passage of Bombero Avenue

Beam assembly work has commenced on the elevated passage being constructed on Bombero Avenue in northwest Guayaquil.

This weekend marked the start of the beam assembly phase for the elevated passage being constructed on Bombero Avenue in northwest Guayaquil. In this critical phase, three out of the five beams of varying lengths—24, 36, and 40 meters—will be installed in the central section of the elevated structure as they arrive on site. Originally scheduled for nighttime hours from March 14 to 17, the mounting work has been rescheduled due to a curfew imposed by the national government, highlighting the influence of governmental regulations on infrastructure projects.

During the work commencing on Saturday, construction activities went on until 10 PM, with plans to continue on Sunday from 6 AM to 10 PM, and on Monday from 6 AM to 1 PM. This pivotal infrastructure project, managed by the Guayaquil Municipality, represents a significant investment of $14.7 million funded by the Development Bank of Latin America. The elevated passage is being built at one of the busiest intersections in the region, which underscores the importance of enhancing transportation and reducing congestion in this key urban area.

The completion of the elevated passage will likely improve traffic flow in Guayaquil, which has been a growing concern due to increasing vehicle volume. The project reflects the city's commitment to infrastructure development, aiming to address urban mobility challenges. Additionally, it signals collaboration with international financing institutions to support local infrastructure initiatives, indicating a trend towards seeking external resources for domestic projects in the context of urban expansion and modernization efforts in Ecuador.
