Immigrants were supposed to get this cut on January 1, 2027 – Kela: It is not possible

Kela has announced that the implementation of a new integration support scheme for recent immigrants will not proceed according to the government's timeline.

In Finland, Kela, the national social insurance institution, has declared that the anticipated launch of a new integration support scheme for immigrants will not occur by the initially set date of January 1, 2027. This news comes from Kela’s lawyer, Antti Ristimäki, who has indicated the project's timeline is behind schedule. The government planned to introduce this support for unemployed immigrants who have lived in Finland for less than three years in the past decade, suggesting that those who meet the employment requirement or can demonstrate adequate language skills would qualify for standard unemployment benefits. The integration support, however, would only apply to those who moved to Finland after the law’s implementation.
