Nasarawa LP begins e-registration, targets 50,000 members
The Labour Party in Nasarawa State has launched an electronic registration process aimed at enrolling 50,000 members in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
The Labour Party (LP) in Nasarawa State has initiated an electronic registration process for new members, aiming to enroll 50,000 individuals across the state's 13 Local Government Areas. This initiative comes as part of the party's preparation for the upcoming 2027 general elections and is in compliance with the new guidelines set forth by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which mandates political parties to maintain accurate membership records, including National Identification Numbers (NINs) and photographs of members. The launch took place during a meeting convened by the LP State Chairman, Alexander Ombugu, with various party officials and political aspirants present.
Ombugu highlighted that while the party had commenced registration shortly after the 2023 elections, the initial effort did not meet the updated requirements mandated by INEC. The chairman expressed optimism that the e-registration process would significantly boost the party's membership base, allowing for proper documentation necessary for future electoral processes. He stressed the importance of adhering to INEC's directives to ensure that the party is well-positioned for the upcoming elections.
This move reflects the Labour Party's strategic efforts to galvanize support and enhance its organizational structure in the lead-up to the elections. By integrating modern technology into the registration process, the party aims to streamline member enrollment and engagement while fulfilling regulatory obligations. This proactive approach is expected to empower the LP in its campaign efforts and strengthen its presence in the stateβs political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
