Kwara sets up committee to recover encroached public school lands
The Kwara State Government has established a committee aimed at reclaiming encroached lands of public secondary schools across the state.
The Kwara State Government has taken decisive action to protect educational resources by forming a State Committee on Schoolsβ Land and Boundary Recovery. This initiative comes in response to increasing public concern over the encroachment of public school properties, particularly those belonging to secondary schools across the three senatorial districts of Kwara. During the inauguration led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Olanrewaju Bake, the urgent need for this committee was emphasized as a means to address systemic issues surrounding the appropriation of school lands by private individuals and organizations.
The committee's primary objective is to reclaim these encroached lands, ensuring that government schools maintain their legally designated educational spaces. This move is crucial for safeguarding the physical infrastructure required for effective learning and development. The initiative seeks to assert the state's commitment to preserving public education spaces and responding to the long-standing challenges posed by unauthorized land use surrounding these institutions.
By addressing the problem of land encroachment, the Kwara State Government hopes to restore public confidence in the management of educational resources and enhance the overall environment for secondary education. The establishment of this committee illustrates a proactive approach to protecting educational facilities, ensuring that they can operate within their intended space without the threat of external infringement.
