Hebertshausen: Power outage after fire in transformer house

A fire in a transformer house in Hebertshausen caused a loud explosion, smoke, and a significant power outage affecting much of the eastern Dachau district.

A transformer house located on Ludwig-Thoma-Straße in Hebertshausen caught fire on Friday afternoon, shortly before 5 PM, leading to an explosion and heavy smoke. The subsequent power outage affected large parts of the eastern Dachau district, as confirmed by local authorities. According to District Administrator Stefan Löwl, the telephone and mobile networks were also partially disrupted due to the incident. The fire triggered an alarm at a nearby new gymnasium in Röhrmoos, where an orientation day for incoming fifth-graders was taking place.

Multiple residents reported the fire, and when the first responders arrived at the scene, light smoke was visible from the roof of the transformer house. Interior inspections using a thermal imaging camera revealed temperatures exceeding 300 degrees Celsius. Because of the unclear situation, emergency teams prepared three breathing protection units as a precautionary measure. They undertook ventilation measures to manage the smoke and heat effectively.

The emergency response included efforts to secure the area and restore safety for residents affected by the power outage. Local fire services remained on site to monitor the situation. This incident underscores the risks associated with electrical infrastructure and the importance of rapid emergency response in minimizing public safety issues in such scenarios.
