Dating is harder for Generation Z, says Hinge CEO, the new dating app

The CEO of Hinge, Jackie Jantos, discusses the challenges Generation Z faces in dating and the app's mission to foster meaningful connections in Brazil.

Hinge, the American dating app, has entered the Brazilian market with a unique approach focused on encouraging users to seek serious relationships rather than superficial encounters. As per CEO Jackie Jantos, the platform aims to change the perception that suitable partners do not exist and to encourage users to engage more actively in dating. The app is designed to facilitate in-person meetings, with a staggering rate of one date being scheduled every two seconds worldwide.

Brazil is the first South American country to host Hinge, and the company emphasizes the cultural nuances of dating in this vibrant nation. Jantos points out that Brazilians possess a highly expressive nature and a romantic tendency, making it an ideal place for the app’s intentions. The app, which began its Brazilian operations in Portuguese last November, seeks to capitalize on these cultural aspects to help Generation Z, born between 1997 and 2012, who are reportedly finding dating increasingly challenging.

The focus of Hinge is to provide a platform where individuals can explore more intentional dating experiences, reflecting the desires of many young people for meaningful connections. Jantos underscores that while many may feel hopeless about finding a partner, the platform provides support and encouragement to continue pursuing fulfilling relationships, thereby aiming to reshape the dating landscape for a generation often characterized by uncertainty in romantic pursuits.
