A tragic accident occurred in Poland: a 28-year-old pilot died
A 28-year-old pilot tragically died after falling from a hot air balloon that crashed into a building in Poland.
A tragic incident occurred in Poland when a hot air balloon crashed into a building on Krzywoustego Street, resulting in the death of 28-year-old pilot Jagoda Gancarek. Reports from the local district prosecutor's office indicated that during the flight, Gancarek fell from the balloon's basket and despite immediate resuscitation efforts, she could not be revived. Her body was later found on the roof of the building, prompting an investigation by the prosecutor’s office.
At the time of the accident, two other women were flying with Gancarek in the balloon, and they were subsequently taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The proximal cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the Zielona Góra district prosecutor's office as well as the State Aircraft Accident Investigation Commission. It has been revealed that the balloon was owned by the Lubusz Voivodeship Aeroclub, where Gancarek had trained and later worked as a pilot instructor after completing her training course in 2022.
The incident raises concerns about safety measures and regulations surrounding hot air balloon operations, especially given Gancarek's status as a licensed pilot and instructor. Investigators will need to address factors that contributed to the crash and evaluate the safety protocols in place to prevent such tragedies in the future.
